Setting up disciplines and score types
Every ranking is linked to a discipline. The discipline determines how a score is entered (points, a time, hit/miss, …), how many attempts a shooter gets per round and how ties are broken. You create a discipline once and then reuse it in as many rankings as you like.
Go to Activities & programme → Disciplines.
Creating a discipline
- Click New discipline.
- Under Quick start with an example, pick an example that comes close (see the list below), or fill everything in yourself.
- Give the discipline a Name.
- Choose the Score type.
- Enter the Attempts per round (1 to 20). With more than one attempt, use Count best attempts to count only the best attempts. Leave that field empty to count all attempts.
- Fill in the fields that belong to your score type (see below) and click Create.
The five score types
The score type list shows the internal names below.
| Score type | What you enter | Who wins | Extra settings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Punten (points) | Points per attempt | Highest total | Allow decimals, Track X-count |
| Tijd (time) | A time per attempt | Fastest time | — |
| TijdStraf (time + penalty) | Time + number of penalties | Lowest time after penalty seconds | Penalty seconds per fault |
| HitFactor | Points + time | Highest hit factor (points ÷ time) | Show hit factor as percentage |
| RaakMis (hit/miss) | Number of hits | Most hits | Maximum hits |
With Show hit factor as percentage, the round winner gets 100% and the others a percentage of that, as is customary in IPSC.
The examples
- 25m Precisie: points, 1 attempt, with X-count.
- Steel Challenge: time, 5 attempts, the best 4 count.
- Parcours tijd+straf: time + penalty, 2 penalty seconds per fault.
- IPSC/Dynamisch: hit factor, shown as a percentage.
- Raak/mis: hit/miss, at most 10 hits.
You can still adjust any example before saving.
Ties
When round scores are tied, AmmoSuite automatically applies a tiebreaker that fits the score type: first the number of X’s and then the best attempt for points, the lowest raw time for time, the fewest penalties for time + penalty, and the most hits for hit factor and hit/miss. If two shooters are still tied after that, they share the same rank.
Editing or archiving a discipline
You can edit a discipline later. The Score type can no longer be changed once a ranking uses the discipline; create a new discipline instead. A discipline you no longer use can be archived: it disappears from the list for new rankings, but existing rankings keep working.
