Registering a firearm
Open the Firearms register from the dashboard. Click + New entry to add a blank row and fill it in directly in the table:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Date in | Date of registration |
| Origin | Where the firearm comes from |
| Nature | Nature of the transaction (e.g. purchase, trade-in) |
| Brand | Brand of the firearm |
| Model | Model |
| Calibre | Calibre |
| Serial number | Unique serial number |
| Date out | Empty at registration, only filled in on deregistration |
| Customer | Linked customer (see Managing customers) |
| Note | Free-text field, only visible if you’ve checked Show notes |
While you type the Serial number, AmmoSuite automatically checks whether that number already exists in the register. See Serial number duplicate check.
Order of the rows
With Order in the filter bar you choose Oldest first or Newest first. Your choice is remembered per register in your browser.
Saving
AmmoSuite keeps track of which fields you’ve changed. Click Save on a row to confirm just that row, or use Save all at the top to write all your changes at once — the button shows how many changes are pending, e.g. “Save all (3)”.
If a row has unsaved changes, the Cancel button appears next to Save (instead of Delete). It resets only that row to the saved version; your changes in other rows stay.
AmmoSuite asks for a reason (“Reason for this change?”) when you overwrite or clear a value that was already saved, and when you delete a row. Filling in an empty field doesn’t require a reason. The reason is recorded in the audit trail.
Brand, model and a few other fields fill in with suggestions based on what you’ve entered before. Start typing and choose from the list (“No suggestions” if nothing matches), or just keep typing.
Switching over with an existing firearms register? While the register is empty, you can load it in one go with Importing an existing register (beta, on request). After that you enter firearms directly in the table, or add to the register with a file via Adding to a register.
